PHOTOGRAPHY

In this module we were to gather three different photos. A self portrait, one of a family member or friend and one of a complete stranger.

First here is my self portrait, I caught this during one photography workshop and chose this as this is a very natural photo of me laughing. I don’t usually like photos of me smiling and laughing but this one felt so natural I felt it right to use it.

 

Secondly here is my friend portrait, I chose this photo of Lilli as were sitting together in Starbucks in my home town and she was drinking some weird coffee thing and I caught the photo as she was looking out of the window at something. This was just after she told me off for taking photos of her.

Lastly here is my stranger photo, as me and Lilli were in Starbucks it started to rain and then started to hail. These two girl went outside and had to stand under a small shelter and I thought it was a good example of companionship as they stood together.

 

 

I recently went exploring around Lincoln and discovered some very obscure things that could tell a story of their own when photographer on their own.

This is one is more satirical. My flatmates are actual nightmares and never clean anything and this has been unclaimed since September so I claimed it as lost, therefore I found it. I believe it represents students.

 

Whilst on my adventures I discovered this which back in the day would have been used as part of a heavy duty clamp to store and move heavy metals and things such as that. I believe this has a story to tell all on it’s own about it’s long career and eventual breaking and abandonment. Sad really.

 

I found this curved piece of wood outside B&Q, it didn’t take long to deduce that the area I picked this up from was where the B&Q staff go to smoke. The piece of wood is a broken wooden plant pot type thing which was once used for flicking their fag ends into.

 

I am not entirely sure what this is.

 

Once again, not sure.

 

This was the best thing I found in the collection of random crap. An old, and mildly dangerous gas canister which was probably once used for filling stuff up with gas, perhaps for a back up generator.

 

 

 

My first photo is a satirical piece about Donald Trump. I have chosen the fictional land of Mordor from Tolkien’s Lord of the Rings book series where Sauron is situated and stuck a photo of a ‘Vote Trump’ sign in front of it to make a satirical comparison that Sauron, a dark and terrible ruler who dominated Middle Earth and enslaved and murdered many people, to a businessman who once presented Celebrity Apprentice and is now running for President of the United States of America.

 

The next photo is a satirical piece which is an edit of the famous photo of the workmen having their lunch. I have included a fight between Godzilla and King Kong and photoshopped photos of Shia LaBeouf, Nicolas Cage, Paddy McGuinness and Boris Johnson. The photoshopping of the heads over the workmen is my signature banter with my friends and I have used Godzilla and King Kong to reference two of the greatest movie monsters in history fighting in a great city, I also thought it would be funny if it shows the workmen not caring whilst these monster gods fight it out below them as if they were accustomed to it.

The final one, I am not entirely sure what I was doing. At the time I had a mild (manic) obsession with Shia LaBeouf and liked to photoshop him into a lot of things including one of my profile pictures. No one noticed. I can’t explain any of this.
