Brief 4: Home

For this brief we had to take six photos to represent home. Non-comedically I chose to focus on the theme of alcohol in correlation to my loved ones and how they represent home. For the brief I focused on alcohol in relation to my girlfriend, my flatmates, my friends, my family and finally my house itself. To me home is all about love and not only do I love my friends, family and flatmates I also love alcohol.

Beer Photo One

I took this photo on a date with Lilli, my girlfriend. We were about to go and see Batman V. Superman: Dawn of Justice and stopped off at Frankie & Benny’s for lunch. After taking this photo I wanted to continue the theme of light shining through the alcohol itself so I have decided to continue that theme.

Beer Photo Two

This is a collection of the pint glasses I have collected and have started to collect since I began working in a pub back at home in London. I consider my co-workers as a family away from my actual family at home and I am reminded of them every time I look at my collection of pint glasses. Continuing the theme of alcohol and the obvious presence of light I lined all of my pint glasses up, set up my phone’s torch behind that and then took the photo.

Beer Photo Three

This is a photo of the pyramid of beer bottles in the living room of my flat. We affectionately call it ‘The Beeramid’. This represents my actual home away from home and how my flatmates and I bond over alcohol. This creation began early on and with some effort has reached great heights and is always remarked by visitors.

Mum Wine

This a photo of my mothers favourite brand of red wine in her favourite wine glass. This is the last one because I broke the rest. This photo represents the women of my family who are all avid fans of red wine, for as long as I can remember family functions haven’t been complete without my sisters and mum popping open a bottle of red wine.

Dad martell

In this decanter, passed down through my family by older generations, is some Fine Cognac Martell V.S. Brandy. This is my Dad’s favourite drink, I think he likes drinking out of the decanter as it makes him look fancier. He’s right.

Brothers Cider

Last, but not least, is a can of Carling British Cider. At any family function you will see my two brothers and my brother in law going through cans of this whilst watching football and if you take the bins out the following Tuesday you are bound to see the bins stacked up with these.
